Erin Vassilopoulos (they/Erin) is a director and writer making personal, genre-bending films. Their first directorial feature, Superior, which they co-wrote and co-edited, premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, was a NYTimes Critic’s Pick, and had its streaming premiere on The Criterion Channel.
Erin's short films have screened at Sundance, the Berlinale, BFI London Film Festival, and Tribeca and have been featured at Vimeo Staff Picks, ARTE TV, The Museum of Modern Art, and in season one of The Eyeslicer variety TV series.
They are currently developing What We All Want, a psychosexual mystery/noir unfolding in a dying mall, and If Only Tonight We Could Sleep (co-writer Ariane Hahusseau), a Gothic/body horror tale of insomnia.
In addition to filmmaking Erin has directed music videos for Horsegirl, Parquet Courts, NOIA, Thus Love, and The Wants.
